Our Interests of Research

The design and functionalization of carbon nanotubes and fullerenes, and supramolecular chemistry including the synthesis of stimuli responsive rotaxanes.

Prof. Naotoshi Nakashima

Naotoshi Nakashima was born in Kumamoto in 1951. He received his PhD in 1981 under the direction of Professor Toyoki Kunitake at Kyushu University. He started to work as an Assistant Professor in 1980 at Kyushu University (Department of Organic Synthesis) and then was promoted to an Associate Professor at the same University in 1982. He moved to Nagasaki University (Department of Applied Chemistry) in 1987 and was promoted to a professor there in 1993. He moved back to Kyushu University in 2004 as a Professor of Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Graduate School of Engineering. He earned The CSJ Award for Young Chemists in 1986 and The Award of the Society of Polymer Science, Japan in 2000.
